Mike Collier has been my personal trainer for over two years. I am an older woman that couldn’t make myself workout without an appointment even as I felt my body falling apart. I had good intentions and lots of excuses. I finally made up my mind to start exercising with Mike the same week that I started seeing a physical therapist for a shoulder problem. I knew it was necessary for me to get back in shape and I couldn’t do it by myself.

Mike is very careful to make sure I am doing the exercises properly so I don’t injure myself.  At first, I couldn’t get up from the floor without assistance and had no leg or core strength. We started off slowly but quickly saw improvement. My quality of life is so much better. He is a professional and motivates me by being nice. I know he really cares about my results. Some might think that paying for a personal trainer is a luxury, but not me. I see it as a great investment toward my retirement.

I’ve been training with Mike since May of 2019. Having just retired in April of that year, I was out of shape and overweight. My experience training with him has been nothing short of life changing! And, not just because we were able to get the weight off and muscles toned to where I am now in the best shape I’ve ever been in. As a trainer Mike is not only knowledgeable and a good teacher, but he is also very patient, kind, and a bonafide role model as a person. Besides concentrating on our sessions in the gym, he’s also talked about nutrition and other ways to stay active outside the gym, and most importantly, he seems to genuinely care about my well being. I super enjoy our training sessions together, and am looking forward to learning more and getting stronger in 2021.

I just wanted to drop you a line to let you know some of the things I have found since you showed me how to lose weight and get fit. I found comfort in myself.  I’m not anxious to be somewhere where I feel new people looking at me.  Today I put on a tank top and shorts and hung out with my family.   I’m not a show stopper, I’m an older woman just spending time with family but I’m not hiding in old lady loose baggy clothes hoping not to be seen.

I found a body I can trust again.  I can move and lift and pull and not be afraid of hurting myself.  I can hop on my bike for a ride with the neighbor or grab something off the top shelf and not be afraid it’s going to fall on me.  I know I’m  not super strong but I am solid, not frail.

I’ve found pleasure in challenging myself.  Eating is a pleasure, but eating well feels empowering and still pleasurable.   I’m over the cravings and feel I’m developing a good relationship with food.

I found all of this because I found a coach willing to help me.  At first I was embarrassed talking but you always encouraged and never shamed me or made me feel unsuccessful when I wasn’t where I wanted.  You didn’t make me feel bad because my numbers weren’t going as fast as some others.  You listened and suggested and provided input, feedback, and direction in a way that made me want to continue.   I had not and could not do this myself.  You have given me a fresh start at a time I see others acting like they are at the end of their game.  I’m not mid-life as I don’t intend to live to 130 but I feel I’m ready to keep moving forward with my best.

You made a difference in my life for the better.  Thanks
